Vet care after five o'clock
Work hours and vet hours mostly overlap, which is why evening and weekend home visits are some of the most requested slots in mobile vetting. Here's what's genuinely available after hours, and what isn't.

What after-hours home care covers
Plenty: weekend vaccinations and checks for working households; evening visits for the urgent-but-stable (the limp, the ear, the upset stomach that shouldn't wait for Thursday); and above all end-of-life visits, which after-hours vets prioritise over everything. Several services run to 10 or 11 pm seven days.
Want a vet to come to you?
Tell us where you are and what you need. We'll match you with a home visit vet who covers your area and email you their introduction. Reply to it and they'll call you. No obligation.
What it costs
After-hours home visits run $200 to $410 depending on state and hour, roughly $60 to $150 over the daytime rate. Weekend daytime often prices between the two. If the problem can genuinely wait for a weekday slot, waiting is the saving; if it can't, the premium is what keeps vets on the road at 9 pm.
The line that matters: after-hours vs emergency
An after-hours mobile vet suits a stable animal (alert, breathing normally, gums pink). Collapse, breathing distress, suspected poisoning, bloat, blocked cats, trauma: that's the emergency clinic, immediately, because those cases need oxygen, imaging and a theatre, not a house call. The full triage list is in when a mobile vet is not the answer. When unsure, ring either. Vets triage by phone all night, and would always rather you called.
Common questions
Are weekend vaccinations really a thing?
Widely. Saturday is many mobile vets' busiest day, made of exactly this: routine care for households that can't do Tuesday 2pm.
Is after-hours availability the same everywhere?
No: deepest in the capitals, thinner regionally. An enquiry marked "today" finds whoever is on.
Need someone this evening or weekend?
Send an enquiry with your timing: after-hours vets covering your suburb will call back with availability and the honest price.
