Vet care that comes to your door

Mobile vets bring check-ups, vaccinations and everyday care to your home — a better fit for anxious pets, multi-pet households, big dogs who hate the car, and owners who can't easily get to a clinic. These guides cover how home visits work, what they cost, and what can (and can't) be done at your kitchen table.

How a home visit actually feels

The vet arrives with a kit bag, examines your pet on the floor, the couch, or wherever they're relaxed, and has time to talk — visits are typically booked with twice the breathing room of a clinic consult. Most pets who tremble in waiting rooms barely notice they're at the vet.

Common questions

Do mobile vets cost much more than a clinic?

The visit itself typically costs $40–$100 more than a clinic consult once the call-out is included — roughly $139–$169 all-up for a standard home consult versus $60–$120 at a clinic. For multi-pet households the gap shrinks fast, since most vets charge the call-out once. See the full cost guide.

How quickly can someone come?

In metro areas, routine visits are usually available within a few days and often same-day — urgent-but-stable problems are frequently seen the same day. Evenings and weekends exist but cost more.

What areas do mobile vets cover?

Every vet works a patch — usually a set radius or list of suburbs, with travel included inside it. All the major cities and most large regional centres have coverage. Browse by city, or tell us your suburb and we'll match you.

Can a mobile vet treat rabbits, birds or pocket pets?

Many see rabbits and pocket pets; birds and exotics are less universal. It's listed on each vet's card in our directory — or mention the species in an enquiry and we'll pass it to vets who see them.
